I-17
The Japanese submarine I-17 was one of 10 in the class known as "I 15". These boats displaced 2,180 tons, were 348 feet long and 30 feet wide. They were armed with a 5.5-inch gun and two anti-aircraft machine guns. I-17 was launched on 19 July 1939 at Yokosuka. She was a member of the task force for the Hawaii Operation and flagship of the 2nd Submarine Division.
