Montgomery
The destroyer-minelayer Montgomery was moored in Middle Loch in Pearl Harbor on 7 December. At 0930 a Japanese aircraft crashed in the water some 500 yards away and a ship's boat was sent to rescue the pilot. There was one man alive in the wreck, but he put up so fierce a resistance to being taken prisoner that a sailor shot him.
